POLICE have launched an investigation into a “despicable” hate crime which took place during a St Mirren and Aberdeen match at the weekend.
The force said it had been made aware of a video, which shows football fans chanting at the opposite side, which was taken at St Mirren Park, Paisley, on Saturday.
The incident, which took place during the Scottish Premiership clash between St Mirren and Aberdeen, has been shared widely across social media.
Police confirmed they are treating the incident as a hate crime and are appealing for anyone with information on those involved to come froward.
Inspector Megan Logan, Paisley Police Office, said: “This was a despicable action and we are keen to trace the individuals involved.
“Anyone with information on those involved is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2164.”
