Police have confirmed they are investigating the "unexplained" death of a man in Leith.
Edinburgh Live reported police had descended on the foot of Leith Walk earlier this evening.
Officers were called to Newkirkgate Shopping Centre shortly after 6pm amid reports the man had taken ill.
It has now been confirmed that he died at the scene.
Officers have launched a probe into the incident and are said to be treating his death as unexplained.
A police spokesperson said: "Around 6:05pm, officers were called to the Newkirkgate areas of Leith after a man had taken unwell.
"The man was later pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing."
Police were still at the scene at around 8pm this evening where a cordon and police tent had been set up.
