Police investigating after 'unexplained' death of baby boy

Police are investigating following the ‘unexplained’ death of a baby boy in Gloucestershire. Emergency services were called to Fishers Road in Berkeley around 10.40am this morning (Sunday, July 17).

Gloucestershire Police said they were called by the ambulance service in relation to a medical incident, reports Gloucestershire Live. Sadly, the baby boy was announced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Police say his death is currently being treated as ‘unexplained’. The baby’s next of kin have been informed and his death is currently under investigation.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 10.40am today (Sunday) in relation to a medical emergency at an address on Fishers Road in Berkeley. Sadly, a young baby boy was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

"Officers are currently investigating the death and the circumstances are being treated as unexplained at this time. The baby’s next of kin are aware and the coroner has been informed."
