Police are investigating after a car was destroyed after being set alight in West Belfast.
The Volkswagen Tiguan, believed to have been stolen, was found in the Colinmill Close area of Poleglass at 6.30am on Sunday.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received a report of a car on fire in the vicinity of Colinmill close to junction of Pembroke Loop Road in west Belfast around 6.30am this morning, Sunday 01 March.
"NIFRS attended and extinguished the fire. The Volkswagen Tiguan was destroyed as a result of the fire. It is believed it had been stolen from outside a house in the Rosehead Drive area of north Belfast sometime during the night.
"Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incidents or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officers in Tennent Street on 101 quoting reference 444 01/03/20."
Sinn Féin Councillor Stephen Magennis told Belfast Live: "I was contacted by residents to say the car had been burnt on the Pembrooke Loop Road in Poleglass early this morning. This seems to have been a new car.
"We know only too well what can happen when involved in this behaviour we have had people in our community [who] have lost their lives and I would put the message out there this activity won't be tolerated and those responsible need held to account for their actions.
"If anybody has any information I would ask them to come forward. I will work with the Colin Safer Neighbourhoods and agencies to continue to address this issue. I would call on the community to make sure their homes and property are secure at night and report any suspicious behaviour."
