Police investigating after man taken to hospital following attack in Walker

Police are investigating after a man was taken to hospital with injuries sustained in an attack in Walker.

Officers were called to Ada Street at around 2.40pm after receiving a report that a man had been assaulted in an address in the Monkchester Road area.

Police attended the scene and found a 31-year-old man who had sustained minor injuries following an attack in Ada Street.

The culprits, who are believed to be known to the victim, then fled the scene in a vehicle prior to police arriving.

The man has been taken to hospital for further treatment on his injuries.

A large police presence was visible in the vicinity with officers visiting multiple addresses in Cleadon Street, Monkchester Road and Ada Street.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said inquiries to locate those responsible for the assault are ongoing.

He added: “Anyone with any further information is asked to report it on the Northumbria Police website quoting log 564 21/04/20.
