Police investigating after man dies in Co Down car park

An investigation has been launched after a 27-year-old man died in a Co Down car park.

Police are understood to have cordoned off the car park of an apartment building on Cloughey's Main Street yesterday morning.

A PSNI spokesperson said its officers found the man following a report of 'concern for safety' and were there when he passed away.

They added: "A man has died following a report to police of a 'concern for safety' in the Main Street area of Cloughey on Saturday morning.

"The 27-year-old male was located by police lying in the car park of an apartment building at around 11.15am and subsequently passed away at the scene.

"The circumstances of the death are now subject to investigation and in line with standard protocol where police officers have been present at a death, the Office of the Police Ombudsman has been informed."
