Police investigating after gun shots fired at a house in Salford - this was the tenth shooting this year

Police are investigating after gun shots were fired at a house in Salford .

Officers were called to reports of a firearm discharge on Crescent Drive, in Little Hulton , just before 11pm on Sunday, September 8.

Damage consistent to that of a gunshot was found at a property.

It has not been confirmed whether anybody was injured during the incident.

No arrests have yet been made.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "We were called shortly before 11pm last night to reports of a firearms discharge on Crescent Drive.

"We have attended and found damage to a property consistent to that of a firearms discharge.

"Enquires are ongoing."

This is the tenth shooting in Salford since January this year .

Only one person has been charged since these incidents for possession of a firearm.

In January, shots were fired at a house in Duchy Road - no one was hurt.

February saw two more shootings, one on Howard Street and another Duchy Road.

A dad was shot in front of his son as he waited at traffic lights in his Seat Leon at the junction of Langworthy Road and Eccles New Road in April. A man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. He was released under investigation.

A shootout between a motorbike rider and occupants of a car on Liverpool Street in July led to one man being charged.

In August, gun crime erupted again in the city as shots were fired at two homes in the city.

Shots were fired on Quay View, Orsdall, on two separate occasions in September.

A senior councillor said the situation was 'crazy'.

They said: "Councillors, particularly those in the inner-city are concerned about how it is escalating.

"I know GMP are struggling in terms of resources but it is getting out of hand."
