Police investigating death of two-month-old boy

A two-month-old baby boy has died in a home west of Melbourne and an investigation is underway into the circumstances.

Emergency services responded to reports of an unresponsive baby at a property at Alfredton in suburban Ballarat about 9pm on Saturday.

Paramedics performed performed CPR on the baby, however he died at the scene.

Police are awaiting results of a post-mortem report to determine the cause of the boy's death.

Any members of the public with information have been urged to contact police.
