Police have charged a 42-year-old man with murder after a woman was found with 'traumatic' injuries inside a hotel room in Perth's CBD.
Officers were called to the Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth on Adelaide Terrace at 9:40am on Sunday.
"Police were called to the hotel as a result of a disturbance and a female adult was located on one of the upper floors," Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Fogell said on Sunday.
"She was unresponsive and appeared to have suffered a traumatic event."
The woman was provided first aid by St John Ambulance officers and taken to Royal Perth Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
"An adult male we suspect was involved in that traumatic incident was taken into custody at the scene," Senior Sergeant Fogell said.
"It [happened] on one of the upper floors inside one of the rooms and then migrated into the corridor outside that room, and yes there were witnesses."
Homicide Squad detectives charged the man with one court of murder on Monday afternoon.
Police allege the woman suffered stab wound injuries.
Police believe the man and woman are known to each other and have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else.
"My information at this point is that the male person was a guest at this hotel, but there's no information on the female," Senior Sergeant Fogell said.
"Although we're not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident, if anyone has any information I urge them to contact Crime Stoppers."
The man is set to appear in court tomorrow.
