Police are investigating a case of a man who presented to paramedics with knife wounds and whether those injuries are linked to an alleged brawl outside a western Newcastle home on Tuesday night.
Police were called to Bunn Street, Wallsend, about 6.35pm after being notified that a 41-year-old man had presented to a NSW Ambulance crew with wounds to his wrist and chest.
The man was ultimately taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
It came as police received reports of an alleged brawl outside a home on nearby Bousfield Street.
Police said in a statement on Wednesday that officers from Newcastle City Police District were investigating how the 41-year-old became injured and whether his injuries were related to the alleged brawl.
Investigators are calling for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between 5.30pm and 7pm on Tuesday to contact either Waratah Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
