
Police are appealing for information about a suspicious fire that destroyed part of a house in Newcastle on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to University Drive, Waratah West just before 6pm, following reports of a fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze a short time later. Three rooms at the front of the property were destroyed, and a large portion of the house was damaged by smoke.
There were no reports of injuries.
Police established a crime scene and specialist police examined the scene.
As inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire, police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
