
Police are investigating a fire that broke out at a Newcastle pub in the early hours of Friday.
Investigators, including forensic officers, were combing the scene at the Northumberland Hotel at Lambton on Friday morning.
It came after emergency crews were called to the Elder Street pub about 4.40am where a fire had taken hold at the premises and on a small patch of grass nearby.
The Newcastle Herald understands police are treating the fire as suspicious.
Minimal damage was caused to the hotel, the Herald understands.
