Eleventh death on Sunshine Coast roads this year after Mountain Creek crash

Police are investigating a serious crash at Mountain Creek.  (ABC News: Stuart Bryce)

An eleventh life has been lost on Sunshine Coast roads this year after a car hit a tree in Mountain Creek today.

A 31-year-old Sunshine Coast man was found dead by a passing motorist who noticed a white 2018 Mitsubishi Triton utility crashed into trees along Seriata Way near the northbound Sunshine Motorway on-ramp.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 7am and police say the car is believed to have left the roadway around 1am.

The deceased man was the sole occupant of the car.

Officers are appealing to motorists who travelled east on the Sunshine Motorway at the Mountain Creek interchange and took the northbound exit to travel towards Noosa between 12.45am and 1.05am to come forward with dash cam footage.

Police have released a map of the crash site in an appeal for witnesses or dash cam footage of the Mountain Creek fatal crash today. (Supplied QPS)

The road was closed to allow for investigations, creating traffic chaos for drivers on their morning commute.

It comes after a month-long police operation targeted driving offences in the region, following the deaths of 10 people on the region's roads.
