'Bouncer attacked' outside city bar on day lockdown eased in Nottingham

An investigation is underway after reports of an assault on a doorman outside a city bar.

Nottinghamshire Police said its officers are also looking into the possible presence of a lock baton during the same incident.

It was reported a bouncer was attacked in St James' Street at around 10pm on Saturday, July 4, the day pubs and bars reopened after more than three months in lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Inspector Hayley Crawford, from the city centre neighbourhood policing team, said: "We are keen to identify the man in this footage as part of our enquiries into an assault.

"I would encourage anyone who saw what happened or has information to come forward.

"Violence on our streets is never acceptable, but this is especially the case as we all start to venture back out to our pubs and clubs."

Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to contact the force on 101, quoting incident number 738 of 6 July 2020.
