Police investigate links between assault and 50-plus vandalised cars

One of the 50-plus cars that was vandalised in Black Forest overnight.

Police are investigating whether there are links between a neighbourhood fight and damage caused to more than 50 cars in two Black Forest streets.

More than 50 cars parked in East Avenue and Aroha Terrace at Black Forest, in Adelaide's inner-south were vandalised overnight.

Many had their tyres slashed or doors scratched.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Fitzgerald said police were called to David Avenue in Black Forest at about 1:00am for a dispute between two men.

A 22-year-old man was charged with assault and offensive behaviour.

"We are currently investigating links between that dispute and damage to the vehicles," Mr Fitzgerald said.

Chief Inspector Fitzgerald said police were calling for witnesses to come forward.

"We are not sure how many people were involved," he said.

"We haven't collated the damage value, however in excess of 50 vehicles, it will be a significant amount.

"It's pointless behaviour … Whoever has come around and done this has impacted a large number of people."

Residents told the media it was not the first time cars had been vandalised in the area.

"I'd like to reassure residents that police will be highly visible in this area going forward until we reach a resolution," Chief Inspector Fitzgerald said.

Police are asking for anyone with CCTV footage of the area to submit it via their website.
