A man who broke his right ankle while trying to stop his minivan rolling off a wharf could be in for even more pain, as police investigate him over weapons and drugs allegedly stashed in the vehicle.
NSW police say the 45-year-old Bomaderry man parked a white Holden Combo minivan about 10 metres from Huskisson Wharf, on the NSW South Coast, on Saturday night.
Officers have been told the man briefly got out of the vehicle, which began rolling forward.
The man tried in vain to get back into the driver's seat, and his lower right leg was crushed as the van became wedged between posts at the end of the wharf.
Pictures taken at the scene show the minivan's front wheels hanging over the edge of the wharf.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the incident about 10.15pm and worked to the free the man, who was taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital for treatment.
A 42-year-old woman in the minivan's passenger seat was not injured.
Police say that when they searched the minivan, they seized a replica handgun that had been hidden under the driver's seat. Officers also found and seized cannabis and several knives, police say.
On Sunday morning, NSW police said the man remained in hospital and investigations were ongoing.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
