Police investigate fatal shooting of Geelong mother of four

A local community in Geelong has been shocked by the death of mother of four Emily Miller, who was shot dead in her home on Wednesday night.

Police are investigating after Ms Miller, aged in her 30s, was found by emergency services in a rental property in Conrad Court in Whittington just after 9:00pm.

In a statement, police said she was taken to hospital but later died of her injuries.

A man who was at the property at the time of the incident was taken into custody and is being questioned by police.

Police said so far, no-one had been charged over the death.

'Devastating' loss

A family member of Ms Miller, Doreen Forehan, choked back tears as she spoke to media.

"There's four little innocent children in this that've lost their mum," Ms Forehan said.

"It's devastating."

Last month, on Ms Miller's Facebook page, she posted she was in a new relationship.

Homicide detectives and forensic experts are at the scene and are believed to be looking for the murder weapon.
