Police investigate fatal flat fire in Gallowhill

Police and firefighters are investigating a fatal fire at a flat in Gallowhill.

Six fire crews rushed to Renfrew Road, Paisley where a blaze had taken hold in a first floor flat.

No details around fatalities have yet been released.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue service are in the initial stages of investigating a fatal fire that occurred at an address on Renfrew Road, Paisley, around 9pm on Friday, June 19.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who has any information surrounding the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: "We were called at 9pm on June 19 to reports of a dwelling on fire in Paisley.

"Operation control mobilised six appliances to the town's Renfrew Road where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire within a first floor property.

"Fire fighters remain at the scene."
