Police investigate as mystery surrounds unexplained deaths of east Leeds couple

Police are investigating the deaths of a couple in their 90s who were both pronounced dead in their home in Halton, Leeds, on Sunday (August 16).

The pair were pronounced dead at 12:46pm, when paramedics were called to their address at Wilfred Avenue.

No probably cause of death has been outlined, but police have ordered post mortem examinations to take place.

A police scene has been put in place around the couple's property, but no neighbouring homes have been evacuated.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson told LeedsLive: "Police are carrying out enquiries into the unexplained deaths of an elderly couple at their home in Leeds.

"The man and woman, both aged in their nineties, were pronounced dead at 12:46pm yesterday (16/8) when paramedics were called to their address in Wilfred Avenue, Halton.

"A scene remains in place at the property and enquiries are ongoing. Post mortem examinations are due to be held to establish the causes of their deaths."
