Police investigate after woman's body found in forest

Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found near Taree at the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to Bulga Forest about 11.30am on Saturday after reports the woman had been discovered.

Officers from Manning/Great Lakes Police District secured a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the 34-year-old.

A secondary crime scene was also established about 3km west of the Pole Dump Forest Road cabin, along Old Blue Knob Road, in relation to a silver Holden Rodeo utility located just off the road.

A 38-year-old man, who is known to the woman, was spoken to at the scene and was assisting detectives with their inquiries at Taree Police Station on Sunday.

Police are appealing for anyone who has been at either location at the time, or on Friday, or who may have dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
