Police investigate after man falls to his death from block of flats

Police are investigating after a man fell to his death from a block of flats in Toxteth.

Emergency services were called to Heysmoor Heights on Croxteth Road shortly after 10pm last night to reports that a man had fallen from height.

Forensics officers could be seen collecting evidence as residents peered down from the exposed walkways and windows at what was happening below.

The front entrance of the building was blocked off and people were being directed to a rear entrance.

The man's body was covered with a white sheet and his trainers could be seen lying on the ground nearby.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified and officers are working to contact his next of kin.

"His death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not thought to be suspicious.

"Enquiries are on-going to establish the full circumstances of the incident - CCTV is being sought, witnesses spoken to and crime scene investigators will also examine the scene."
