Female soldier in her 30s found dead in barracks - with police probe launched

Police are investigating the death of a female soldier who was found unresponsive at the Royal Artillery barracks.

Officers and emergency crews raced to the scene after a woman was found at the barracks in Larkhill, Wilts. yesterday afternoon.

Paramedics and Ministry of Defence (MoD) police attended, and the woman, in her 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation has been launched into her death and is being treated as non-suspicious.

A spokesperson for the MoD said: "We can confirm the death of a soldier on July 22.

''The circumstances surrounding this death are being investigated and it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time.

''Our thoughts are with the soldier’s family and friends at this difficult time."

Wiltshire Police said: "We were called to Larkhill Garrison yesterday (22/07) following the sudden death of a woman in her thirties.

"Her death is not being treated as suspicious. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time."
