Police interview with roommate of Charlie Kirk murder suspect shown in court

  • A recorded police interview with Lance Twiggs, the romantic partner and roommate of defendant Tyler Robinson, has been made public for the first time, with Twiggs stating that Robinson expressed regret for killing Charlie Kirk .
  • Robinson told his roommate “he wishes he hadn’t done it” the day after the conservative activist was shot in the neck while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University, Twiggs said in a police interview that was played in court on Thursday.
  • Prosecutors allege that Robinson also confessed in a note left for Twiggs, stating he “had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,” and sent a text message indicating he targeted Kirk.
  • Robinson is charged with aggravated murder, and State District Judge Tony Graf will decide if there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial, while defense attorneys have unsuccessfully attempted to remove the death penalty as an option.
  • Investigators claim Robinson shot Kirk once in the neck from a rooftop while Kirk was speaking to a crowd, and the suspected murder weapon, a bolt-action rifle, was later discovered wrapped in a towel in a wooded area nearby.
