Police in Wishaw have issued a warning ahead of Bonfire Night later this week.
Officers are expecting a busy Guy Fawkes Night as always and are appealing to the public to be safe if they are setting off fireworks.
Area Inspector Alan Mulholland said: “Typically the Bonfire night period is one of our busiest times of the year and we have dedicated resources in place to respond to any incidents of fireworks or fire related disorder.
“We will have directed patrols to address issues and will be actively targeting anyone seen with fireworks which are not in a controlled setting or those setting deliberate fires.
“In addition to local resources, we are also able to call upon specialist and national capabilities as part of Operation Moonbeam and so the public should be left in no doubt that we have all the tools at our disposal to respond appropriately to any incidents that arise in the local area.
“I want to encourage people to be safe this bonfire night and think of others before letting fireworks off or setting fires."
Officers also remind the public that is an offence to possess a firework under the age of 18; sell a firework to anyone under the age of 18; set off fireworks out with the hours of 6pm and 11pm (midnight on bonfire night); throw or set off fireworks in a public place and cause unnecessary suffering to animals.
Anyone who witnesses others deliberately setting fires in the community should call police on 101.
Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
