Police in West Lothian issued 30 tickets to drivers in one day after complaints

Police in West Lothian revealed they issued a total of 30 fixed penalty parking tickets to drivers Linlithgow in one day.

Officers told the town’s Local Area Committee that police have been told responding to community concerns on road safety, including speeding drivers and inconsiderate parking.

In a report, Community Sergeant Iain Wells said: “Ward officers continue to patrol areas of concern in terms of inappropriate speed, use of mobile phones whilst driving, and other road traffic offences.

"Over 30 fixed penalty parking tickets were issued in the Linlithgow High Street area on a recent day of action.”

Police  have also responded to reports of anti-social behaviour among younger drivers in the  west end of the town, particularly around  the Aldi  supermarket car park.

Sgt Wells added:  “We continue to remind drivers of expected driving standards via our social media platforms.

“Specialised roads Policing Officers have been contacted and made aware of several complaints regarding use of speed and the anti-social use of vehicles around the ward area.”

One area where parking problems appear to have been resolved is around Springfield Primary. Sgt Wells  said the school had signed up to the Park Smart programme “and it is working very well.” he added .

Elsewhere in West Lothian, a driver in Armadale had their vehicle seized , was hit with a £300 fine and six points on their license.
