A missing 10-year-old girl has been found safe and well after a desperate police appeal.

Yasmin Tas was last seen leaving her house in Hassocks, West Sussex, at around 8.45am on Wednesday.

Police issued an appeal calling for anyone with information to get in touch.

In a statement on Twitter this evening, Sussex Police said: "We are absolutely delighted to announce that missing Yasmin Tas from #Hassocks has been found safe by our officers this evening (19 May)

"We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who kept an eye out for her or RT'd our post today."

In a tweet this morning, the force said: "We urgently need your help. Missing 10-year-old Yasmin was last seen leaving her home in #Hassocks this morning (19 May). Have you seen her?

"Yasmin has links to #Brighton and #Hove. Please dial 999 if you see her."

Photos show a police car parked on the street where Yasmin was last seen earlier today.

Dial 999 immediately if you see Yasmin quoting serial 298 of 19/05.
