Police in Trafford take huge haul of drugs off the streets after speeding car was pulled over

A 'large quantity' of drugs has been taken off the streets of Greater Manchester by police after a speeding car was stopped.

Police chiefs in Trafford revealed the huge haul in a Facebook post.

Two men were arrested and are now being questioned in custody.

More drugs and cash was also seized later in a subsequent house search linked to the stop, police said.

Images shared by police show a front door being forced open, a number of mobile phones, bags of drugs and a wad of cash.

Police said the vehicle involved, which hasn't been described, 'sped past' an unmarked GMP vehicle operating as part of the force's transport unit.

It was in the Carrington area of Trafford overnight.

Officers said the vehicle was stopped and a large quantity of drugs was found inside.

The drugs haven't been described further and an estimated street value hasn't been mentioned.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of drug dealing.

The stop led police to search a house, where more drugs and cash was found.

No further details have been released.

Writing on Facebook, Greater Manchester Police's Trafford South division said: "Overnight a vehicle has sped past one of our #TRANSPORTUNIT unmarked cars in the Carrington area.

"Vehicle was later stopped and a large quantity of drugs were recovered from within.

"Two males have now been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing.

"This later led us to carrying out a house search where further evidence was recovered, including drugs and cash.

"Speeding kills, drugs kill and combining in the two is an awful decision.

"Unfortunately for these suspects the they are now our guests and have some significant explaining to do."
