Police in the hunt for Ayrshire firebugs

Police in Ayrshire are appealing for information following two incidents of wilful fire-raising in Cumnock.

Around 4am on Thursday, July 9, police received a report of a fire at a property on Keir Hardie Hill.

And at around 6.35am on the same morning, police received a report of a domestic garage on fire at a property on Barrhill Terrace.

Emergency services attended and the fires were extinguished. There were no injuries as a result.

However, Detective Constable Keith Hyndes, of Kilmarnock CID, said: “We are appealing to members of the public who may have any information relating to either incident to get in touch.

“We do not believe these incidents are linked although both fires are being treated as wilful.

“We are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who may have dashcam footage which could assist with our investigations to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 101.

For the fire at Keir Hardie Hill quote incident 0423 of 9 July and for the fire at Barrhill Terrace quote incident 0541 of 9 July.
