Police in south Manchester were called to a Bank Holiday street party with more than 200 people at it

Police in south Manchester were called out to deal with a large number of Bank Holiday street parties - including one attended by more than 200 people.

Officers from the GMP Longsight and Moss Side team say they were kept busy with a 'large' number of gatherings in Moss Side and Hulme.

Posting on their social media accounts, they say the number of people at each one ranged from more than 20, to over 200.

While attending one large gathering, on Barleycroft Street in Moss Side at around 1am, an object was thrown through the back window of a police car, which led to it having to be taken off the road.

They said: "Bank holiday Monday kept GMP busy with a large amount of street parties including Moss side and Hulme where groups ranged from 20 to over 200 persons present.

"Around 1am The neighbourhood team responded to a large gathering on Barleycroft Street in Moss side which an object was thrown through the rear window of a Police vehicle causing the vehicle to be taken off road".
