Man who disappeared in Shetland found 'safe and well' after police appeal

Police officers searching for a man missing in Shetland have found him "safe and well".

The last reported sighting of Andrew Moorhouse from Lerwick was at around lunchtime on Thursday, July 2, near Whiteness, sparking a police probe.

He was wearing a dark green walking jacket and carrying a black rucksack.

Police believed Andrew might be in the Weisdale area of the Shetland mainland and urged members of the public to get in touch if they had seen him.

But officers have now thankfully found Andrew following extensive enquiries.

A force spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that 47-year-old Andrew Moorhouse, reported missing from Lerwick on Thursday, 2 July 2020, has been traced safe and well.

"Police Scotland would like to thank the members of HM Coastguard  and the public for their assistance."
