Police in Leeds find body in River Aire in search for missing Seamus McLoughlin

A body has been found by police searching for missing Leeds man Seamus McLoughlin.

West Yorkshire Police launched an urgent appeal to find Mr McLoughlin, 64, on social media this morning (July 5).

Sadly, they have now revealed that a body was found in the River Aire, near to the Redcote Lane bridge in Kirkstall.

Formal identification is yet to be carried out but it is believed to be Mr McLoughlin and his family has been informed.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers searching for a missing Seamus McLoughlin, 64, from Leeds, have found a body in the River Aire near to the Redcote Lane bridge in Kirkstall.

“Formal identification is yet to be carried out, but it is believed to Mr McLoughlin and his family have been informed.”
