Police in Edinburgh probe 'blood stained item' discovered near Corstorphine Hill

An investigation is underway after police responded to reports of a "blood stained item" found near the Corstorphine Hill area.

An eyewitness told Edinburgh Live they saw seven or right Police Scotland vehicles in the area earlier on Tuesday near Kaimes Road.

Police Scotland said enquiries were ongoing as well as a search of the local area.

It is understood a police presence is still in the area after they first responded just after 9:30am on Tuesday (20 October).

A force spokesperson told Edinburgh Live: "Police resources are in the Corstorphine Hill area following the discovery of what appears to be a blood-stained item.

"Examination of the item will be carried out to confirm what it is and officers are carrying out a search of the area.

"No other related items have been found and enquiries are ongoing.

"Police were notified around 9:35am this morning, Tuesday 20 October 2020."
