Police in Cumbernauld appeal after car deliberately torched

Police are appealing for information after a car was set on fire in Cumbernauld.

Emergency services attended the scene in Chestnut Court at around 9.15pm on Tuesday, November 2.

The fire, that police are treating as wilful, was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Nobody was hurt during the incident but officers are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.

DC Shemain Murphy told Lanarkshire Live : "Thankfully no-one was injured as a result of this reckless act.

"I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has any information which may assist us to get in touch.

"I would also ask anyone in the area with a dashcam or private CCTV to check the footage around that time."

Anyone with any information should call police on 101. Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
