Police identify man who died within house in Wishaw and appeal for information

Police have revealed the identity of a man who died in suspicious circumstances within a house in Craigneuk on Tuesday morning.

Gary Gray, 46, was discovered within a property in McGregor Street, Craigneuk after emergency services attended at around 9.45am on March 17.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and they have appealed to the public for information.

Detective Sergeant Derrick Lunan, of Wishaw CID, said: “We are conducting extensive enquiries into the death of Gary and we are appealing to anyone who may have any information to come forward.

“I would ask those who may have seen Gary in the lead up to his death to get in contact with officers.

“Police are working closely with Gary’s family to ensure they have everything they need at this difficult time.

“There will be increased patrols in the area and I would like to reassure the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the local community.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0720 of Tuesday, 17 March, 2020.

Alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
