Police identify body of woman found on Scots beach as death probe continues

The body of a woman found on a Scots beach has been identified by police.

The grim discovery was made at Inverkip beach on Monday, 10 August.

Detectives had launched a public appeal to help identify the woman.

Her death continues to remain a mystery, however officers have now found her family.

Enquiries are still ongoing to establish the exact cause of death but investigations are not being treated as suspicious at this time.


Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: “Thanks to the tremendous response from the public Police Scotland have now identified the woman and notified her family.



“We would like to pass on our appreciation to the public for their assistance in this investigation regarding this tragic death.”
