Police: Man wanted in Grayslake homicide fatally shoots himself

Sept. 30--A man wanted by Lake County authorities in connection with the death of a woman in unincorporated Grayslake fatally shot himself in the head in Chicago on Tuesday evening, police said.

Lake County sheriff's deputies found Dena E. Seymour, 46, dead in her home around 8:15 a.m. in the 31200 block of North Alleghany Road, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Authorities responded after a person who visited the home for an appointment found Seymour's body, said Detective Christopher Covelli with the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Seymour was shot more than once, and officials identified Leo Amin, 30, as a person of interest in the case and started searching for him.

During the investigation, officials learned that Seymour and Amin were dating.

Hours later, around 4:25 p.m., police discovered Amin, of the 1100 block of Lakeview Avenue in Crystal Lake, dead of a gunshot wound to the head at a rooftop bar in downtown Chicago, according to police. Police sources said Amin shot himself.

Lake County officials were notified that Amin was dead around 8 p.m., according to a statement. The statement from the Lake County Sheriff's Office did not say how Amin died.

The Lake County coroner's office scheduled an autopsy for Seymour for Wednesday afternoon, and the cause and manner of her death is still pending.

The official cause and manner of Amin's death is pending an autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
