Police hunting suspects who fled after car crashed into Hetton-le-hole butcher shop wall

Police are hunting the occupants of a suspected stolen car that crashed into a butcher shop wall.

A car ploughed into the wall of McMurchie Meats in Hetton-le-Hole at around 10.15pm on Saturday.

Significant damage was caused to the brick wall to the rear of the shop, with a large part of it falling down while bricks were scattered across the ground.

The bumper and debris from the car could also been seen lying at the scene.

After causing significant damage to the yard wall, the suspects then left the vehicle and fled on foot.

Northumbria Police is now appealing for information to catch the culprits.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 10.15pm on Saturday we received a report that a car had collided into the wall of a butchers shop on Fairy Street, Hetton-le-hole.

“The occupants of the vehicle were reported to have exited the car, which is believed to have been stolen, and fled on foot.

“Enquiries are on-going and anyone with any information or those involved are asked to contact us via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting log 1170 150121.”
