He was released from prison on licence in August 2020 which has now been revoked after he failed to attend appointments with his probation supervising officer, failed to live at an approved address, and displayed poor behaviour.

Kerr is known to have connections across Yorkshire.

William Kerr is on the run (North Yorkshire Police)

He was jailed for life in 1998 for the murder of Maureen Comfort, 43, in Leeds.

She was strangled to death at the flat where she lived alone.

Concerned relatives found her body left in a cupboard after they broke in, having not heard from Maureen for some time, the Mirror reported.

This is not the first time Kerr has absconded: police launched an urgent appeal after he disappeared from a bail hostel in Hull in 2015 and from an open prison in Suffolk in 2017.
