Police hunting 'man bag'-wearing thief make arrest after spate of crime across Trafford

Police hunting a thief wearing a “man bag” have arrested a suspect following a spate of incidents in Trafford.

A man in a North Face Jacket, with a man bag, was captured on CCTV walking up driveways and breaking into vehicles in October and November.

Officers received numerous reports around the Urmston, Stretford and Sale area.

On Monday morning (December 23) police searched properties in Brinnington, in Stockport, and Wythenshawe, in south Manchester.

A man has now been arrested on suspicion of theft from motor vehicle.

“A large amount of property” which police believe is stolen was also seized.

A post on the GMP Trafford North Facebook page read: “At the end of October and early November there were numerous reports in the Urmston, Stretford and Sale area about a Male wearing a North Face Jacket & Man bag who was captured on CCTV walking up driveways and breaking into vehicles.

“This morning Trafford West Neighbourhood officers and Trafford DTT have executed 2x search warrants In Brinnington and Wythenshawe.

“As a result a Male adult is under arrest for 14 counts of theft from motor vehicle. We have assisted the Male with decluttering his house in time for Xmas by seizing a large amount of property believed to be stolen (You're welcome) #WhatsInYourManBag? #Naughtylist #NoPresentsForYou #declutter”
