Police hunting Gambian man with 'large distinctive rings' after spate of serious Edinburgh incidents

Police are hunting for a Gambian man who wears “large distinctive rings” following a number of serious incidents in Edinburgh .

Officers from the Craigmillar area believe he may have vital information about an attack on a 37-year-old in December 2017.

They previously released images of the man, who is described as being a tall, black male.

Police are asking members of the public to come forward if they recognise the man (Police Scotland)

But they have come up empty-handed in their search so far and are again asking the public for help.

The man, who officers believe is originally from Gambia, is of an average build with short, black afro hair and a short, dark beard.

Detective Constable Rachel Robertson, based at Gayfield Police Station , said: “Despite extensive inquiries by detectives, we have been unable to identify and locate this man who we would like to speak to as we believe he may have information that could assist our investigation.

"We are further appealing for the public's help with this.

“Anyone who may recognise this man, or who has any information on where he may be, is urged to contact us as soon as possible.”

Those with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1630 of 20th December 2017, or report this anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
