A Nottinghamshire bookmakers was held up at knife-point and police are hunting for the suspect.

Officers were called to the Betfred bookmakers in Carolgate in Retford at 8.50pm on Friday, January 10.

It was reported that a man entered the property, threatened a staff member, a woman, with a knife and demanded cash.

The suspect, who is white, aged 30 to 40 years old and who was wearing a dark coat with his face covered, left with a quantity of cash.

The staff member wasn't hurt during the incident.

Detective Sergeant Dave Prest, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This would have been a terrifying experience for the staff member who thankfully wasn't hurt during her ordeal.

"A cordon remains in place and we are conducting a number of lines of inquiry to trace the man responsible. I would ask anyone with any information which could assist us with our inquiries to get in touch with us."

If you saw anything or have any information that could aid our officers in their investigation, please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 874 of 10 January 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
