Police hunting female thug who attacked women with bricks in Hackney enclave

Police are hunting a female suspect who lashed out at other women with bricks in north London.

Two victims were attacked and left bloodied within about 30 minutes by the attacker who hid her weapon in a bag during Tuesday morning’s rush hour.

Metropolitan Police officers said the first incident happened on Stoke Newington Church Street just after 7.50am when “a woman was hit with an item, possibly a brick in a bag”.

At roughly 8.25am, a second call was received by a female describing a similar attack near a parade of upmarket shops and cafes on Southgate Road, in Hackney’s De Beauvoir Town enclave.

A police spokesman added: “Officers attended the scenes but the suspect had left the area on both occasions.

“The victims, both women, were treated for minor injuries.”

The De Beauvoir Deli shop was tagged in a post about the incident on social media.

An Instagram user urged caution writing: “Police just told me there’s a woman going around with a bag full of bricks smashing other women in the face.”

When contacted by the Standard, a member of staff confirmed employees at the deli-cafe and grocer had heard about the attacks. But she had no further details regarding possible victims.

Scotland Yard said: “Police are investigating two separate incidents on Tuesday April 2 involving members of the public who reported being attacked by a woman in the street.

“The first call was made to police at 7.53am after a woman was hit with an item, possibly a brick in a bag. This took place in Stoke Newington Church Street, N16.

“The second call was made at 8.24am where the caller described a similar attack in Southgate Road, N1.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
