Police hunting armed thug after horror attack on couple walking down Scots street

Police have launched a manhunt for a thug in work boots who threatened a woman with a weapon then attacked her after goading a couple walking down a Scots street.

The 28-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were walking between New Street, Musselburgh and Lochend Road North at around 4.45pm last Thursday.

A man, who was a passenger in a white Ford Transit work van, then started targeting the pair while the vehicle drove past.

He launched a tirade of abuse at them and tried to goad them to fight before getting out of the van with a weapon.

The thug then assaulted the woman in the shocking incident.

Police have issued a description of the man and urged any witnesses to come forward.

He is white with a tan, around 20 years old, around 5ft11 - 6ft tall, athletic build, bvuzz cut hairstyle with squared off fringe, wearing a white T-Shirt, grey work trousers and work boots.

Police say he possibly resides or is working in New Street, Musselburgh.

A police statement added: "If anybody has any information in relation to the incident, please contact Police Scotland on non-emergency number 101 quoting incident number 2490 of 17th June 2021.

"Alternatively contact can be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
