Police hunt yobs who targeted Perthshire pedestrians in drive-by crime

Police Scotland has slammed the “extremely childish” antics of a car-load of people alleged to have sprayed two Perthshire pedestrians with white liquid during a drive-by.

The group are said to have sprayed a father and his child while they were out walking in Coupar Angus on Monday night before dousing two young woman in Dundee with the same substance in separate incidents later the same evening.

Officers are now appealing for information from the public to help them identify the occupants of the white Audi whose actions were described as “not funny in the slightest”.

Police Scotland said in a statement this week: “Police Scotland is appealing for information about a series of linked incidents that happened in Coupar Angus and Dundee late on Monday evening involving the occupants of a white Audi.

“About 9.30pm in Causewayend, Coupar Angus, a father and his child were sprayed with a white liquid by the occupants of a white Audi which drove past them.

“About 10pm in Blackness Road, Dundee, a 17-year-old woman was sprayed with liquid by the occupants of what we believe to be the same car as it drove past her.

Break-ins at Perthshire caravan park branded "utterly despicable"

“Finally, about 10.10pm outside Marco Polo in Hawkhill, Dundee, another young woman was sprayed with liquid by the occupants of this car. This person has not reported the matter to us herself and has not yet been traced.

“Fortunately no-one was injured in any of these incidents, and the liquids sprayed on the victims have not been harmful, however they did not know this immediately at the time and were left alarmed and upset.

“This behaviour is not only extremely childish but potentially very dangerous, and not funny in the slightest.

“We are following a positive line of enquiry, however we would still like to hear from anyone who has information about any of these incidents, or anyone who may have been targeted as there may have been more instances which we have not been informed of.

“The car involved is a white Audi, possibly an RS4 or similar. The driver has been described as a heavily built man, and the liquids were sprayed from the passenger side by one or two other males who have not been further described.

“If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer. Also, information can be given anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 3919 of May 25.”
