Police hunt Wishaw dirt bike offender

Police are appealing for information after a man rode an off-road dirt bike illegally in Wishaw.

During the incident, which happened just after 2.30pm on May 16 in Rowan Street, the man committed various road traffic offences including careless driving.

He is described as white, wearing a white full face helmet, dark jacket, red gloves and light blue jeans.

The bike is described as an off-road bike with an orange front mud guard and orange hand protectors on the handlebars.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We continue to see people who think it is acceptable to ride motorbikes illegally in the area.

“This is extremely dangerous and puts the public, and the officers trying to tackle the issue, at risk.

“The Wishaw community policing team will be carrying out increased patrols in the area and we encourage the local community to stand against this type of crime and report illegal activity to us.

“During this incident, there were members of the public present and it was lucky no-one was injured.”

Anyone with information should contact the police on 101 quoting crime report number NE03930521.

Alternatively, to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or go online.
