Police are hunting for a white van driver who threw sulphuric acid at a woman and a teenage girl in a suspected road rage attack.
The suspect is said to have hurled the substance through a car window during an incident in Thornton Heath, south London,
Police said the 63-year-old woman was driving along a narrow road with the 13-year-old girl when she saw a white van driving towards them.
She tried to pull over into a space to allow the vehicle to pass, but the van continued to move forward.
When it was parallel with her car, the woman wound down the window to speak to the man.
But before she could speak, he squirted the acid from a bottle into the car, hitting her and the girl.
The suspect then sped away from the scene.
The victims were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives have released an e-fit of the man they would like to speak to.
The incident took place on April 8 at around 11.30am on County Road towards Highbury Avenue.
Detective Constable Ben Briselden, who is investigating the attack, said: “Luckily, neither victim suffered any long-term damage; however they have been left extremely shaken by this ordeal, and we are committed to pursuing every viable lead to bring the perpetrator to justice.
“I am very keen to hear from anyone who might have been in or around the area of the attack at 11:30hrs on Monday, 8 April and could be a potential witness.”
Police said they are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to review any CCTV or dashcam footage they have that could help with the investigation.
The suspect is described as a white man, around 40 years old of chubby build, with ginger/grey hair and beard, and brown eyes. At the time of the offence, he was wearing a black jumper.
