The man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where medics treated him for minor injuries.

Detective Inspector Bob Bowie, from Paisley CID, said: “Police are investigating an incident which took place in Fairway Avenue, Paisley, around 10.20pm on Sunday evening in which a blue transit van appears to have been deliberately driven at a 27-year-old man.

“The van appears to have mounted the kerb and struck the man. There after the driver left the vehicle and assaulted the man.”

He added: “Our enquiry is at an early stage at this point and we are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with officers.

“We are carrying out a review of CCTV in the area and I would ask anyone who may have private space CCTV or dashcam footage to check if they captured anything which may be useful to our investigation.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
