Police hunt thug who dragged woman to the ground in East Lothian street attack

Police are hunting a man who dragged a woman to the ground in an attack in an East Lothian street.

The incident, which police believe to be a targeted attack, happened at around 7.40pm on Saturday on Olivebank Road, Musselburgh , near the River Esk.

The 52-year-old woman was left with minor injuries to her chest, hands and legs after being attacked by the man.

The suspect is described as white, skinny and wearing dark clothing, possibly with a hat and gloves.

Police Scotland has appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from around the time of the assault to come forward.

Detective Constable Ryan Gilhooly of Dalkeith CID, said: “The victim of this assault has thankfully not sustained any serious injuries as a result of this attack.

“We believe this attack to be targeted and we are appealing for information surrounding the incident.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed a man matching this description or was in the area of Olivebank Road or Market Street at the time of the attack to get in contact with police.

"I would also urge anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the assault to contact police."
