Police hunt thug who broke stranger's leg by stamping on it in Scots pub

Police are hunting a suspect who broke a stranger's leg by stamping on it in a Scots pub.

A 21-year-old was targeted by the brute in Prestwick before being pushed down and attacked.

The 'unprovoked attack' happened at the Vic and Vine Public House on Main Street at around 1.40am on Saturday.

The victim was rushed to Ayr Hospital where he was treated and has since been discharged

The suspect for the attack is described as white, 6ft in height, with short dark hair worn in a quiff style.

He was wearing a black top and black jeans.

Police are now appealing for information and during anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.

Detective Constable Gordon Thomson, Ayr CID, said: "This appears to have been to have been an unprovoked attack which has resulted in a serious injury to the young man who had been out with friends enjoying his night.

"Officers have been checking CCTV both inside and outside the pub but are still keen to hear from anyone who saw the disturbance or who maybe recognises the description of the man responsible.

"We'd particularly like to speak to taxi drivers who were making picking ups at the pub or motorists passing between 1.40 am and 2am. Their information or dash-cam footage may be helpful to our enquiry.

"Information can be passed to officers at Ayr Police Station via 101.

"Please quote reference number 1232 of Saturday, 4 September, 2021, when calling. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."
