Police hunt thug after man attacked with metal object on Dumfries lane

A manhunt is underway after a late-night assault in Dumfries.

At around 1am on Monday a 28-year-old man was attacked in the lane between Clarinda Drive and Lewars Avenue.

A thug pounced on the victim and lobbed him with a 'metal object'.

The suspect is described as male, around five foot, ten inches tall and of a skinny build.

He was wearing a black, Adidas, zipped jacket, black Adidas jogging bottoms, a black face mask and a black baseball cap with a white tick on it.

He had an English accent.

Police are appealing for information and urge any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson from Dumfries and Galloway Police Division said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a 28 year old man was assaulted around 1am yesterday morning, Monday, Sept 14, in the lane between Clarinda Drive and Lewars Avenue, Dumfries.

"The man was approached from behind and assaulted by a metal object.

"If you saw or heard anything suspicious or have any information that may assist officers with their enquiries, please phone us on 101 quoting reference PDG0181430920."
